“TIGER PRIDE” MURAL UNVEILING

OPELOUSAS, LA, May 15, 2023– St. Landry Economic Development in partnership with the Central St. Landry Economic Development District is pleased to announce the unveiling of the Opelousas Mural at ON THE I-49/JUDSON WALSH APRONS ON JUDSON WALSH STREET. A short ceremony will take place at 10:30am on WEDNESDAY MAY 17, 2023, at the JUDSON WALSH AT I-49.  Artist, JEROME FORD, will be present to discuss the project and celebrate the unveiling. 

Frank Buddy Helton, Central St. Landry Economic Development District chair, said, “The mural we will unveil today will continue to beautify the exits into Opelousas for years to come and is a great example of unique collaborations to welcome people to St. Landry parish.” “We are looking forward to future partnerships to create a welcoming and beautiful environment along the main corridor through St. Landry parish”, says Bill Rodier, St. Landry Economic Development CEO.”

The installment is located at Judson Walsh Street at I-49 in Opelousas, LA. The work was created by artist, Jerome Ford, who enlisted the help of St. Landry parish students for the actual installation. Those students were trained on the many skills needed to create these types of pieces but also renumerate them so they could afford to invest their time in the process to learn those skills.
