Economic Development seeks to expand rail access

The arrival of the railroad 120 years ago transformed St. Landry Parish’s economy. Railroads — or at least more railroad spurs —could play an important part in its economic rebirth.
Parish Economic Development Director Bill Rodier told his board Tuesday that he is working with four clients interested in locating new businesses in the Opelousas Industrial Park in the coming year, but only if he can help them acquire rail access.
