2022 Class of Leadership St Landry
Tuesday, September 13, 2022
The 2022 class of Leadership St Landry, which is coordinated by the St Landry Chamber of Commerce, met this week at Dupre, Carrier, Godchaux in Opelousas. One of the speakers for their session was Bill Rodier, CEO of St. Landry Economic Development. Bill shared his passion for Economic Development with the class and talked about economic development specific to St. Landry Parish from the basics, up. Bill also shared some great advice on how members could become more involved in economic development and in doing so help to shape the future of the area. The class was able to interact with Bill and brought up a diverse array of questions, such as: how to better get the word out to people about how funds in some of our economic development districts are being proactively implemented, ideas on broadband expansion across the parish, capitalizing more on the “Gateway to Acadiana” concept at I-49 and Hwy 190, different ways to instill more community and parish pride, the impacts of solar farms in the parish and various ideas about downtown revitalization. These movers and shakers will soon be making a positive impact in our parish! The team at SLED would like to thank them for investing in the program and would also like to thank Laina and her team at the Chamber taking the lead with such a great initiative!
