In a major step toward revitalizing the historic downtown area, Opelousas Main Street is pleased to announce the organization has accepted the donation of four downtown Opelousas commercial properties. The properties were donated by HHW St. Landry Properties, LLC and Haas-Herschel Interest, LLC and include three storefront buildings directly across from the St. Landry Parish Courthouse and a former phone company located along east Landry Street. The properties are scheduled to be available soon for purchase by qualified buyers. Opelousas Main Street, a 501c3 non-profit, will oversee the sale of the properties, working to ensure that buyers are committed to updating the buildings in ways that align with the city’s long-term vision for downtown revitalization

The three storefront buildings located on Court Street are prime commercial spaces with high visibility and foot traffic making them ideal for businesses looking to establish themselves in the heart of Opelousas. The three buildings are also part of a National Historic District which allows buyers opportunities for both state and federal tax credits. The fourth property is nestled between Vine and Landry Streets and carries historical significance as it served as the first dial in telephone service for the city and offers immense potential for restoration into a cultural or commercial hub.
