On Monday December 5th at 1p.m. St Landry Economic Development hosted a groundbreaking ceremony that included local officials and Love’s Travel Stops and Country Stores representatives to celebrate the start of construction for Opelousas’s first Love’s franchise location. The new facility is slated to be built in the vacant lot north of St. Landry Storage, located at 4048 I-49 Frontage Rd. and will employ and estimated 65 full-time positions. The 13-acre footprint site will also include a full-service tire center as well as R.V. Parking. Hungry travelers will be able to dine at the location’s 24-hour Hardee’s and Godfather’s Pizza establishments. The build out on this project is expected to be approximately six to seven months with a grand opening anticipated in mid to late summer. Local leaders are also working with the design team at Love’s to incorporate local cultural murals, information markers, and other features that will make this facility unique to Opelousas and Acadiana. “We are very excited to welcome this full-service Love’s Travel Center into our St. Landry Business family. The Love’s Team has been amazing to work with throughout the course of this project,” said Bill Rodier, St. Landry Economic Development CEO. “We are confident that this new Love’s facility will act as a catalyst for the attraction of other national food and retail operations in this area of St. Landry Parish and Opelousas, which will complement the already strong growth slated for construction in this area.”
