7 Jun 2026
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Bill Rodier, Executive Director and CEO of St. Landry Economic Development, whose vision, leadership, and unwavering commitment helped shape a brighter future for St. Landry Parish.
Since assuming leadership of St. Landry Economic Development in May 2013, Bill dedicated himself to one mission: moving St. Landry Parish forward. Through his collaborative leadership style, strategic thinking, and relentless work ethic, he championed initiatives that strengthened infrastructure, encouraged investment, supported local businesses, and elevated the quality of life for residents throughout the parish.
Bill often described economic development as putting together pieces of a puzzle. For more than a decade, he worked tirelessly to bring together business leaders, elected officials, educators, nonprofit organizations, and community stakeholders to build lasting partnerships that would benefit generations to come. Under his leadership, St. Landry Parish experienced significant growth along the Interstate 49 corridor, expanded economic opportunities, and developed innovative structures that became recognized throughout Louisiana as models for effective economic development.
Prior to joining St. Landry Economic Development, Bill served in leadership roles with Louisiana Economic Development and the Louisiana Workforce Commission, where he worked to strengthen Louisiana's business climate and workforce development efforts. Before entering public service, he held executive positions in private industry and real estate development. He also proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, where he managed operations supporting senior military leaders, dignitaries, and presidential missions.
Bill's professional accomplishments were numerous, but those who worked alongside him will remember him most for his character. He believed deeply in the potential of St. Landry Parish and never lost sight of the people behind every project, business, and investment. He challenged communities to think bigger, work together, and focus on opportunities rather than obstacles.
His leadership extended beyond parish boundaries through his involvement with regional and statewide organizations dedicated to economic and community development. He was a tireless advocate for collaboration, often reminding others that communities accomplish more when they work together than when they work alone.
Bill was also known for his personal discipline and determination. An accomplished Ironman triathlete, he approached life with the same perseverance and commitment that characterized his professional career.
The impact of Bill Rodier's work will continue to be felt throughout St. Landry Parish for many years to come. The partnerships he built, the projects he helped launch, and the vision he cast for the future have left an enduring legacy across our communities.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff, community partners, and countless residents whose lives were touched by his service, we extend our deepest condolences to Bill's family, friends, and loved ones.
His leadership will be missed, but his legacy will continue to inspire all who are committed to building a stronger, more prosperous St. Landry Parish.
"Moving St. Landry Forward" was more than a slogan to Bill Rodier—it was a calling he pursued every day of his life.
